Very much appreciated are the domain experts; field trip leaders and participants; workshop leaders and instructors;
photography gurus; and all others who have helped me over the past 20+ years to initially find and identify many species on this site.
Also thanks to the organizations, of which I am or have been a member, for providing opportunities to grow, organizations including:
Alachua Audubon Society; Carolina Bird Club; Lower Cape Fear Bird Club; The Nature Conservancy; Cape Fear Audubon Society;
Coastal Carolina and Cape Fear Camera Clubs; and NC Native Plant Society.

This site is about my continuing education, my passion for nature, and my sharing observations and images with friends.
I hope I have given back at least a tenth of what I have recieved. It has been and will continue to be a fantastic voyage!!!

Canon EOS 20D, 40D, 60D, and 5D Mark III cameras with a 500 mm f4 IS USM lens were used for many telephoto images. A 1.4X extender and/or extension tubes were added as needed.
Many images were also taken with Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 IS USM and Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro lenses.
For landscapes, birders, and some birds, I use a Sony Cyber-shot DSC 828 DSLR camera with a fixed 28-200mm Zeiss zoom lens.
